Circassian Republics took part in BIA's meeting in Tatarstan


08.02.2020, in the city of Bulgar in Republic of Tatarstan, under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Kiriyenko, a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Bulgarian Islamic Academy (BIA) took place. It was attended by the Head of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Kokov, Head of Karachay-Circassia Rashid Temrizov, Head of Republic of Adygea Murat Kumpilov, Head of Republic of Dagestan Vladimir Vasilev and heads of several  republics and regions of the Russian Federation, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and heads of islamic organizations.

Welcoming the participants of the event, Sergey Kiriyenko emphasized that the President of Russia has set a great task to restore and develop the traditional Russian Islamic theological school. “Islam in our country has not only ancient roots, but also a verified centuries-old history, culture, and its own traditions. This is especially important for such a multinational and multiconfessional country as Russia. It is important that these special traditions of Russian Islam are supported, transmitted to a new generation,” Kiriyenko said.

In his speach the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Muslim religious education has hundreds of years of tradition in our country. The establishment of the Bulgarian Islamic Academy was a large-scale project for the development of Muslim education in the modern history of Russia and the logical continuation of a large systematic work on an in-depth study of the traditional norms of Islam.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the participants of the meeting for their attention to the development of BIA.

Before the meeting, the participants have  excursion in the academy, they saw the museum, library, classrooms and other parts of the academy. BIA Rector Daniyar Abdrakhmanov spoke about the history of its creation, educational and research activities, plans for the further development of the institution.
