USA and Poland signed on the deployment of American soldiers

The agreement, signed by US Secretary of State Pompeo and Polish Defense Minister Blaszczak, provides for the deployment of units of the United States Fifth Army Corps in Poland on a rotational basis.

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak on Saturday, August 15, signed an agreement in Warsaw to deploy an additional 1,000 United States troops in Poland on a rotational basis,- DW media reports.
Such a step "strengthens the guarantee that our soldiers will stand shoulder to shoulder in the event of a threat - for Poland or for the United States," Polish President Andrzej Duda said at the signing ceremony.

The document provides for the arrival of units of the US Fifth Army Corps to Poland from the Fort Knox military base in Kentucky. There are currently about 4,500 American soldiers and officers in Poland.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump confirmed his intention to significantly reduce the number of American troops in Germany. The decision is due to the fact that Berlin "has not fulfilled its obligations" to finance NATO, explained the head of the White House.
