Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Germany's trade with Eastern European countries has dropped significantly, the Eastern Committee of the German Economy (Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft) reported on Friday, February 19,- DW reports.
The indicators of trade relations with Russia fell especially strongly: in 2020, the volume of trade between Germany and the Russian Federation decreased by 22.2 percent to 45 billion euros, said an organization lobbying for the interests of German firms that do business in Eastern Europe.
In the case of Russia, 2020 was an extremely difficult year - not only because of the coronavirus crisis, but also because of the tough political conflicts that noticeably affect the economy ",- chairman of the Eastern Committee Oliver Hermes said .
This is the lowest level since 2005, the statement said.
