A member of the group of doctors of the Ombudsman of Georgia, Giorgi Grigolia, said that former President Mikheil Saakashvili was really starving, and his stay in the prison hospital inappropriate, RIA Novosti reported.
According to Grigoliy, Saakashvili's state of health is not serious, however, based on the results of his tests, complications are possible soon. The doctor added that currently Saakashvili needs intensive treatment and therapy, and this cannot be ensured in prison conditions.
Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1. Saakashvili calls himself a "political prisoner", he went on a hunger strike almost immediately from the moment of his arrest. The politician's doctors and lawyers consistently reported his deteriorating health. A week later, the ex-president was hospitalized in a prison hospital.
Earlier, nine deputies in Georgia started a hunger strike in support of Saakashvili.
