The Circassian politician does not think that Kadyrov responsible for his arrest

Former senator of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation from the Karachay-Circassian Republic, Rauf Arashukov, does not believe that the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, is responsible for the criminal case against him. He announced this on the air of the RTVI TV channel.

Arashukov was asked: “You called Ramazan Kadyrov your brother, meanwhile, there are many publications in the press where he acts as the organizer of your arrest. What do you think of it?". The former senator replied that he did not think so.

The Circassian politician Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul Arashukov have been in detention since January 2019. According to the investigation, they were the organizers of a criminal group to steal gas from Gazprom company worth over 30 billion rubles ($410 million). In addition, the ex-senator is accused of organizing the murders of Aslan Zhukov, a representative of the Circassian youth movement, and Fral Shebzukhov, adviser to the President of the Karachay-Circassian Republic, in 2010.

In November 2021, the Moscow City Court began to consider the Arashukovs' case with the participation of jurors. At the first meeting, the defendants did not plead guilty to the crimes imputed to them.
