The European Commission: We are ready to live without Russian gas

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the European Union has prepared for interruptions in gas supplies from Russia in connection with a possible Russian “invasion” of Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports.

“In recent weeks, we have worked out all the scenarios for a possible complete or partial cessation of gas supplies to the EU by Russia. Now I can say that we have secured ourselves for this winter season,”  von der Leyen said.

According to her, such a need arose because of the belief that Russia can use energy as a weapon.
