The White House is discussing the possibility of checking the enterprises and activities of businessman Elon Musk for a threat to the national security of the country,- Bloomberg reports.

The reason for this was Musk's intention to acquire Twitter with a group of international investors, threats to stop the supply of the Starlink satellite network to Ukraine.

Interlocutors of the agency said that the discussion of possible checks is at an early stage. U.S. government officials and law enforcement are exploring available tools that would allow the federal government to inspect Musk's businesses.

One option is to do this through the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). The agency is reviewing transactions for the acquisition of American enterprises by foreign buyers. It's not clear if CFIUS will be able to offer a legitimate verification method that would include estimates from the State Department, the Department of Defense and Homeland Security, Bloomberg sources said.
