In the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve, on the territory of the cordon, Laura and Pslukh have begun the revival of Circassian gardens. Apple trees, pears, cherries, walnuts, Caucasian linden - in total, more than 100 trees were planted in those places where Circassian gardens once bloomed. And today visitors can see centuries-old pears, - the press service of the Caucasian Reserve reports.
Seedlings are about 4-5 years old. They are purchased in a nursery, acclimatized, with a good root system. Therefore, with a great deal of confidence, we can say that in the spring of 2024, when the reserve celebrates its 100th anniversary, they will delight everyone with lush flowering,- the press service of the reserve noted.
In the Republic of Adygea, together with public organizations, a number of events were held to study and preserve the unique Circassian gardens. According to the Head of Adygea Murat Kumpilov, Circassian gardens can rightfully be attributed not only to the natural, but also to the cultural and historical heritage of the Circassians (Adyghes) along with the famous Maykop culture, as well as dolmen culture, which is a distinctive feature of Adygea and attracts tourists.
The Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve is the largest in territory and the oldest, specially protected natural area in the North Caucasus. Located within three constituent entities of the Russian Federation - Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Adygea and the Karachay-Circassia Republic.
The reserve is located in the Circassian homeland in Western Caucasus, on the border of the temperate and subtropical climatic zones. It is the largest mountain-forest reserve in Europe. The total area of the reserve is over 280 thousand hectares.
