US lifts restrictions on Ukraine's strikes deep into Russia

The administration of US President Joseph Biden lifted the ban on Ukraine's strikes deep into Russia with long-range weapons received from Washington. This was reported by American media on Sunday, November 17. According to sources of The New York Times (NYT), we are talking about ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles.

The Ukrainian army will likely use these weapons to strike Russian and North Korean servicemen in the Kursk region, NYT writes. Permission for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use ATACMS was given in response to Russia's unexpected decision for Kyiv's allies to involve North Korean troops in military operations on the side of Moscow, officials who wished to remain anonymous explain. According to them, Washington is thereby sending Pyongyang a signal about the vulnerability of the North Korean forces and the inadmissibility of their participation in the war.

Reuters: Kyiv prepares first strikes in coming days

Ukraine intends to launch first strikes with American long-range weapons "in the coming days," Reuters reports, citing three people familiar with the situation. Details of the upcoming operations are not provided due to operational security issues.

The White House and the US State Department declined to comment on the information. The Ukrainian presidential office and the country's foreign ministry did not respond to Reuters' requests at the time of publication.
