Circassian Center dedicates a scientific session to the 100th anniversary of Asker Gadagatl

 


On December 15-17, 2022, the Circassian Cultural Center (Tbilisi, Georgia) held the traditional VIII scientific session “Language and Identity”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Circassian scientist, Doctor of Philology Asker Gadagatl,- the website of the Circassian Center reports.

The events took place over three days in offline and online formats. The purpose of the scientific session is to promote intercultural cooperation between the peoples of the Caucasus and popularize the Georgian-Circassian and all-Caucasian issues.

The event with a welcoming speech to the participants was opened by the founder and director of the Circassian Cultural Center (CCC), head of the Institute of Caucasian Studies of TSU prof. Merab Chukhua. The invited guest was a Circassian public figure from the United States, the head of the organization "International Circassian Council" Iyad Yogar.

Scientists from Tbilisi, Maykop, Istanbul, New York, Tyumen and others took part in the final session of the CCC this year. The topics of the speeches directly concerned the issues of the Circassian and Georgian languages in the totality of writing and identity, the language situation, and, in addition, the Abkhazian, Ingush, Ossetian and other languages of the peoples of the Caucasus.

The theme of the session was presented through many angles, including linguistics, ethnology, history, folklore, psychology, political science and other disciplines.
