Ozdemir: Should not be silent about the colonial policy of Russia towards the Circassians

This statement of Cem Ozdemir was four years ago (october 4, 2016 - natpress) but we found it appropriate to publish it again, because it is relevant today as well.

German parliamentary deputy from the Greens party Cem Ozdemir, at a press conference held on October 4 in the city of Kiel in the north of the country, speaking about the Armenian genocide, said that the Circassians, his ancestors, suffered from the colonization policy of Russia. And this, according to him, cannot be hushed up, it should be discussed and should be condemned by the society.

The politician posted a video of the press conference "Germany and Turkey - about democracy, identity and recognition", at which his opinion was voiced, on the same day on his Facebook page.

It should be noted that the main topic of discussion at this meeting was that in Turkey, the human rights situation after the coup attempt in July 2016 has greatly deteriorated. Cem Ozdemir was invited to the event as an expert - he himself was born in Germany, but his father and mother are migrants from Turkey.
