On August 29, 2020، the Russian media published a bulletin pointing to a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin on awarding blogger Artemy Lebedev with a Medal of the Order For Merit to the Fatherland, II degree. Before that, Lebedev criticized the Sochi authorities for making concessions to Circassian activists and dismantling a memorial monument in honor of Russian soldiers of the 19 century, also he spoke about the Circassians in a blatant and racist manner.
A petition demanding "Withdraw the award of Artemy Lebedev - the Medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, II Degree", addressed to the Russian government authorities, was posted by Circassian activists on the Change.org platform on September 4. The petition By 16.05 Moscow time on September 11 gained 94 votes.
Today, where they wanted to place the monument of the soldier the Sochi authorities planted a tree as you can see in the picture above.
