Russwurm: Germany's energy supply does not depend on the SP-2 gas pipeline

The German economy is by no means required to receive gas at any cost, which can be supplied from Russia through the controversial Nord Stream 2 (NS-2) pipeline, the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI) believes,- DW reports.

“Germany needs a reliable energy supply. But it does not depend on a separate pipeline, including Nord Stream 2,” BDI head Siegfried Russwurm said in an interview with the Funke media group published on Saturday, January 29.

He recalled that Germany buys more than 50 percent of the natural gas it consumes from Russia. "Certainly, it would not be easy to completely or mostly replace this share in a short time," the representative of the German industrialists admitted.
