Every year on April 25 the Circassians (Adyghe) nation which is divided into two large parts: one million in the homeland Circassia and five million in the diaspora celebrate the day of the Circassian Flag. This day is an official holiday in the Republic of Adygea (Caucasus), and the government regulates various events held on this day.
In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Karachay-Circassian Republic, and the Shapsugia region of the Black Sea, Circassian movements and organizations organize events on this day.
Circassians in the diaspora in Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Israel, European countries, the United States, Canada, and other countries also celebrate Circassian Flag Day.
Throughout Circassian history, there have been various flags, and the current flag, green in color, symbolizing the nature of Circassia, with three intertwined arrows, which symbolize peace in Circassian tradition, and twelve stars, which symbolize the 12 provinces that were in the Circassian state, was declared the flag of Circassia by the decision of the Circassian People's Congress, which was held in the city of Tuapse on the Black Sea coast in 1830.
The territory of the historical state of Circassia includes the Republic of Adygea, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Karachay-Circassian Republic, the Krasnodar region which includes the Shapsugia region of the Black Sea and part of the Stavropol region.
